Statement 1: The Maternity Benefit Act in India provides for paid maternity leave to women employees. Under this act, eligible women employees are entitled to 26 weeks ( 6.5 months) of paid maternity leave.

Statement 2: The act also ensures job security for pregnant women during and after their maternity leave. It prohibits the termination of employment during or on the grounds of maternity leave and provides for the right to return to the same or a similar position after the leave period.
