Shubham, IAS recruitment is through UPSC examination and UPSC is held at 3 stages. Prelims, Mains and Final Round of Interview.

UPSC Prelims has 2 papers. Paper 1 covers Current Events, History of India and Indian National Movement, Indian and World Geography, Indian Polity and Governance, Economic and   Social Development, General Issues on Environmental ecology, General Science.

Paper 2 covers Comprehension, Interpersonal skills including communication skills, logical reasoning and analytical ability, decision making and problem solving, General Mental Ability and basic numeracy numbers.

If you look at the topics, these are based on what you have studied in your 10th and 12th. So while studying B.Tech, you also have to study your 10th and 12th books for Paper 1. And for Paper 2 which is CSAT, you might have to take up coaching because that way you learn the short cuts and can effectively solve the questions. Hi

You need to start your preparation for UPSC as soon as possible as the syllabus of UPSC or the IAS examination is wide and vast, now that you are in first year of your BTech you can start UPSC preparation now.

You need to go through the syllabus of UPSC well and once you complete the whole syllabus you should go for mock tests, you can make a routine and make sure it revolves around studying chapters, practicing questions and revision and you should try to religiously follow your timetable .

To be eligible for UPSC you just need to be a graduate, in any discipline, so yes you can go for civil Engineering

Follow the below tips for UPSC preparation :-

  • Study as per exam pattern
  • Source wisely
  • Focus on current affairs
  • Plan And have daily goals to complete the syllabus efficiently
  • Revise
  • Practice test papers

Thankyou
