Solution : According to the question: Total population of state B = 7,200 The percentage of the population below the poverty line of state B = 25% Population below the poverty line = $7200\times\frac{25}{100} = 1800$ The proportion of males and females below the poverty line in state B = 3 : 5 $\therefore$ No. of females = 1800$\times \frac{5}{8}$ = 1125 Hence, the correct answer is 1,125.
