Let x be the sum of all 200 numbers.

Than, x / 200 = 40

=> x = 8000

Now, we have to replace 40 by 50, i.e., the new sum is x - 40+ 50.

=> New mean = x - 40 + 50

= 8000 - 40 + 50

= 7990

Therefore, new mean = 7990 / 200 = 39.95.

Hope the solution helps!
