Correct Answer: 20

Solution : The difference between marks obtained by boys and girls in all subjects, L1 = (60 + 80 + 140 + 120 + 100) – (120 + 100 + 40 + 60 + 40)
⇒ L1 = 500 – 360 = 140
$\text{Average}=\frac{\text{Sum of all the values}}{\text{Number of all the values}}$
The value of the average of marks obtained by boys in C, D, and E
= L2 = $\frac{140+120+100}{3}= \frac{360}{3}$ = 120
The value of L1 – L2 = 140 – 120 = 20
Hence, the correct answer is 20.
