Both the NITs are ranked as the top NITs in India.Though VNIT,Nagpur has a better ranking as compared to NIT Calicut.You can check the cutoff of various NITs for various courses by going through the link given below:

Both of these colleges come under the top 10 NITs of the country and are very good colleges for engineering in terms of every aspect. You can go for either of the two colleges, however, the factors that can rove to be deciding are the rankings of the two colleges and the location of the two colleges. You can also try for other colleges in accordance with your rank. Hope this helps.
