What are the backgrounds of the Indian students who got admitted for Carnegie Mellon university?

There are thousands of applicants who apply for admission in Carnegie Mellon University out of which many are Indian. It would be difficult to mention background of every Indian student who applied for admission but one can provide an overview upon the same:

For Admission in Masters

• Students from India's top institutes like IITs, NITs and other private institution like Manipal Institute of Technology, BITS Pilani
• Having an extra ordinary academic record
• Devoted in a field, one can do a lot of innovations and carry research in field of their interest that attracts the Professors. Like students were passionate about Robotics, Machine Learning or subjects like Quantum Computing
• Were not just a college student but an active social worker, contributed in various NGOs, Campaigns and other Motivating activities

For Undergraduate Admissions:

• Achieved medal at a national or international level Olympiad
• Qualified competitive examinations and scholarships like NTSE, KVPY, JEE
• Had a great extra co-curricular activity record like Debating, Quizzing or IT field participation
• Excellent academic and SAT scores

Note: The most important and crucial part of the admission which is common in both levels is Statement of Purpose and Essays which explains in detailed why you deserve to be a student of CMU.

Also above mentioned background are not the definite ones but are common to most of the appearing students
