According to the UGC guidelines, a P.HD degree is a mandatory qualification for applying as an Associate Professor t and to become a full-time lecturer u must have the relevant degree in which you wish to teach, have a bachelor's degree, Masters degree and a P.HD. However, a P.HD is the main qualification to become a full-time Lecturer.

The basic qualifications include:

For becoming a complete professor In most cases this takes about 1–2 years . Once you accepted a position you are normally appointed at as an Assistant Professor. If you have a tenure-track position. You are evaluated after a certain time for promotion to Associate Professor- depending on the University it comes with or without tenure after 4–6 years.
