Paper-1 is most important part of UGC NET, because it can give you significant advantage over other students by maximizing your overall score. Let us understand nature of Paper-1:

Syllabus of Paper-1 is General. That means anything can be asked. There is no single book/source available which can cover all 60 questions. Even if there is some source available, it will take 6 months to study that.

After detailed analysis of last year papers, our expert team has identified some interesting insights.

• Remember that only 50 questions are to be attempted out of 60 for Paper-1. So you do not have to study everything. To score high, the secret lies in "CHOOSING" your favorite 50 questions.
• There are few topics in Paper-1, for which you need 5X hours of study to get a question correct, while for some other topics, you need X hours of study to get a question correct.
• You will always (almost) get a question each on Deductive Reasoning, Analogical Argument, 4 types of definitions (Lexical, Stipulative, Precising, Persuasive).
• One question is appearing consistently from Government of India target of 175 GW renewable power (for which you have to remember just 3-4 lines).
• One Question from 10-12 types of research (every time).
• Very easy 4-5 questions on teaching and classroom concepts.
• One easy question on conversion from decimal to binary or othwerwise.
• On the other hand, you must go through 300-400 pages of Polity and Indian Constitution to get 2-3 questions attempted.

CBSE NET is scheduled to be conducted on July 8, 2018. The test will consist of two papers - Paper I and II. Paper-I will consist of 50 objective type questions carrying 2 marks. General questions will be asked in this paper that assess the teaching or research aptitude of candidates.  This paper tests reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. This paper carries total 100 marks and is held for 1 hour duration. Paper II consist of 100 objective type questions carrying 2 marks. Questions will be based on the subject selected by the candidates. Total marks allotted to this paper is 200. Candidates have to answer within 2 hours.
