50th percentile means a marks where 50% of the students who appeared for the examination are lower than you and 40th percentile means 40% of the students who appeared for the examination has marks lower than you so suppose the highest marks in examination is 680 out of 720 then where has got 680 will be the topper of the examination answers 99% the students in the examination have got marks less than and he will have 99 percentile and so on
