Hello,
National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Entrance Examination is conducted for admission to B.Des and B.F.Tech courses offered in NIFT. The candidates seeking admission to B.Des need to appear for Creative ability Test, General Ability Test, Situation Test, the candidates seeking admission to B.F.Tech need to appear for General Ability Test. The merit list for admission to B.Des will be based on performance in CAT, GAT and Situation Test and the weightage is as follows
Based on your performance in these tests you will be evaluated not only based on Situation Test which has 20% weightage. And situation test is not a disqualification round unless the demonstration of your model is not in English language. So you should explain the model in English language. The model evaluation will be conducted based on the space visualization, creativity, uniqueness, finishing, element composition, construction, color scheme, etc. After the situation test a merit list be prepared. So CAT, GAT and Situation test are important equally to secure a decent rank.
Hi,
Every year there are around 8,000 students who qualified for the situation test and there are 2,500 seats. So there are very few chance to get admitted into NIFT even if you have qualified for the situation test. But there are pretty good chances of getting into NIFT if you belongs to reserved category. As of now you can’t predict and guess the chance of good AIR rank.
There is very little connection between your “getting qualified” in CAT/GAT and getting selected into NIFT. NIFT entrance, in itself encompasses some part of CAT and GAT, but the final AIR is also depending upon your Situation/studio test that you appear for once you have cleared the written exam(the first part.) Infact, Situation text is the one deciding your creative abilities and thoughtfulness to find the best solutions or come up with best outcomes with the limited supplies that you have at that moment.
Hence, to get a good AIR, please brace yourselves well for the Situation test as well.
Hope this helps.
