What is adsorption and its types?
Adsorption the process by which a solid holds molecules of a gas or liquid or solute as a thin film. It is the adhesion of atoms, ions or molecules from a gas, liquid or dissolved solid to a surface. There are two types of adsorptions :-
Physical and Chemical
Absorption is the process of accumulation of number of molecules on the surface of liquid or solid when compared with the bulk.
Absorption can be classified in two types chemical adsorption and physical adsorption
in case of chemical adsorption the force of attraction is very strong and chemical bond are present between the adsorbent and adsorbent and the energy of adsorption is very high
In contrast in physical adsorption the bonding is very strong and only attractive forces exist which are weak wonderwall forces and the energy of adsorption is very low.
