Hello!

Applied Electronics and Instrumentation is a advanced concept in Engineering when compared to that of Electronics and Instrumentation. Most of the subjects will be same for these two courses, there will be difference only in couple of subjects. When it comes to scope and placements both will have more or less equal opportunities. AEI have more advanced concepts than EIE. Applied electronics and instrumentation have more theory than Electronics and instrumentation. ALL THE  BEST. Hope the answer was helpful.

Thank You

Hello Ajay,

Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering is an advanced branch of engineering which deals with the application of existing or known scientific knowledge in electronics, instrumentation, measurements and control for any process, practical calibration of instruments, automation of processes etc. It is a combination of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering. This branch is an industry-oriented engineering branch which needs more knowledge and experience in industrial applications to excel in a career.

Apart from covering core subjects such as Industrial Instrumentation, Measurements, Sensors & Transducers, Process Control, Bio-Medical Instrumentation and Robotics, students deal with software and hardware topics such as Microprocessor and Microcontroller-based instrumentation, VLSI and Embedded System designs, pSPICE, Computer Architecture and organization, Virtual Instrumentation (LabVIEW), Industrial Automation (PLC, SCADA etc.) and computer control of processes. Computer languages such as C and C++ are also part of the curriculum. The scope of this particular Applied Electronics and Instrumentation branch is vast and it bridges almost all the branches of engineering. Students from this course are recruited by top manufacturing and instrumentation development conglomerates and also by control system and microprocessing companies or automation suppliers and instrumentation analytics companies and much government-aided organizations such as Indian Army, ministry of electronics and telecommunication, DRDO, MHRD, etc.

Some of the top recruiting private jobs for the graduates of Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering are:

  • Bosch Electricals
  • Siemens
  • ABB
  • Accenture Technology Solutions
  • Honeywell Automation India
  • Hewlett Packard Enterprise
  • Renault Nissan Automotives Private Limited
  • Tech Mahindra Solutions

Some of the top recruiting government jobs for the graduates of Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering are:

  • Defense Services (India)
  • Indian Institute of Technolgy
  • Central Electronics Ltd.
  • Indian Railways
  • Atomic Energy Commission
  • Hindustan Aeronautics Limited
  • Ministry of Civil Aviation
  • Directorate General Posts
  • Telegraphs Departments
  • NALCO
  • Indian Space Research Organization
  • Ministry of Goods and Industries
  • MHRD

Instrumentation Engineering is a specialised branch of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, primarily focussing on the principles and operations of measuring instruments used in the design and configuration of automated systems. Instrumentation technology helps create, construct and maintain measuring and control devices and systems found in manufacturing plants and research institutions.

It is the basis of mechatronics and robotics engineering. Its main objective is to ensure that systems and processes operate safely and efficiently. Candidates having a degree in instrumentation engineering are offered some good job opportunities in the electrical, mechanical as well as electronics sector. Additionally, because of the multidisciplinary nature, an instrumentation engineer can also work within or outside the industry.

The roles for EIE employees are Instrumentation Engineer, Automation Engineer, Software Engineer, Senior Software Engineer, Project Engineer, IT Systems Engineer, Senior Instrumentation Engineer, Test Engineer etc.

This was the overview of EIE and Applied EIE. Hope you have a better understanding of both these branches by now.

Hope this helps you. Feel free to ask more doubts.

Have a good day!!
