What is difference between MBA / executive MBA/ PGDM
PGDM: A Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is a diploma course offered by the institutes that are recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and which are autonomous and not affiliated to any university.
MBA: Degree Overview. The Master of Business Administration is a graduate degree sought by those looking to hone their skills for a business career. Students applying toMBAprograms are required to have earned a bachelor's degree, though not necessarily in a business field.
Executive MBA programs are designed for rising leaders with an average of 13 years of work experience and offered through a part-time study format, such as weekends or weekly modules Learn more here:Executive MBA Council
MBA programs have an international focus, although its hard to find a program today that doesnt have an element of international business since its such a timely topic. MBA programs are typically full-time programs where students have fewer years of work experience, but there are also global MBA programs that have an executive (see above) format.
There are hundreds of accredited MBA and EMBA programs offered in schools around the globe, but plenty of aspiring students do not know the difference between the two. 'EMBA' simply stands for 'ExecutiveMaster of Business Administration', which is commonly misconstrued to be a superior form of MBA study.
The main reason why postgraduate courses are named asPGDMis because when an Institute is an autonomous body (not affiliated to any University) and conducts management courses, then such Institutes cannot offerMBAdegree. Even IIMs, XLRI's doesn't offerMBAdegrees; they only give PGP Diploma.
PGDM candidates graduate with a Diploma certificate and theMBAcandidates graduate with a degree certificate. ... But the truth is, all the top management institutions like IIMs, XLRI, SP Jain and few others offer PGDM courses and not an MBAdegree program.
Thanks,
Azim
Hi Konica,
MBA is a degree and offered by universities while PGDM is a diploma offered by private B-schools. Fresh graduates can apply for both MBA and PGDM. However, Executive MBA is for experienced candidates who wish to pursue MBA after working professionally in any industry.
Good luck.
