What is longitudinal stress And how this stress will happens to a object
Hello Harsha,
Longitudinal stress is the stress developed in a body when some force acts along the longitudinal axis of that body. As we all know stress is simply the internal resistance provided by the body and is opposite in direction to the force and also stress in resistance force per unit area.
This term longitudinal stress is mainly used when a thin walled cylinder is subjected to internal pressure, it give rise to 3 stress.
1. Longitudinal stress
2. Hoop stress or circumferential stress
3. Radial stress.
Hope this will be useful to you.
All the Best!
