Don't Miss: Best Online MBA courses by Top Universities
Hi Vyshnavi,
In simple, If you want a good package or placement then go for PGDM. The course is little expensive then MBA but the placements are also better then MBA. The college's range between 8 to 10 lacs for 2 years PGDM. Government Institutions are not bother about your placement where private institute has to maitain their ranking and good will in the market. They must placed their students. They have good infrastructure alike library, faculties, Soft Skills programs, etc.
On the top of this "paisa lgao, paisa kamao" or 8-10 lacs toh pahale 18 months mai hi washul ho jayenge, fir aap free puri life k liye...
For example: FORE, JIMS and Asia Pacific Intitute of Management in Delhi NCR
To conclude, Student can join PGDM OR MBA, immediately after pursuing graduation.
Hi Vyshnavi! The basic difference between PGDM and MBA is that the former is diploma programme in management whereas the latter is a degree programme. Only state or private universities can offer degree programmes whereas private institutes or colleges which do not have a University status offer Post Graduate Programme (PGP) or Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM). Except for the nomenclature, there are no major differences between the two. In terms of curriculum and pedagogy also MBA and PGDM are similar.
Yes, candidates can apply for CAT or other MBA entrance exams for PGDM in the last year of graduation so that they can pursue MBA/PGDM right after graduation.

PGDM = POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN MANAGEMENT
MBA = MASTER IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
Dear Vyshnavi, since you have put up this query in the month of July, I believe you are mostly an aspirant for the upcoming academic year.
To reply on your first question, technically there is no difference between PGDM and MBA, except the fact that the government universities run Business administration program will always be called a Masters, and that the private institutes are permitted to call their program PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management). But let me clear the common air, it is no diploma, it is an AICTE approved degree. CCU, DU, MDU, IP Univ they all offer MBA, however IIMs, MDI, BIMTECH, Asia-Pacific etc offer PGDM.
To revert on your second question, all the students who are appearing for their final year exams or final semester exams, can apply for admissions, and if selected can take admission, provided they have to submit their final year results to the university or the institute by September end or as per the AICTE deadlines.
For eg: Students taken admission in 2018-20 batch needs to submit their final year results by september 2018.
Hope it helps.
Doreen
Hii vyshnavi,
PGDM stands for post graduate diploma in management whereas MBA stands for master of business administration. PGDM focus on management understanding and MBA focus on business administration. However both the courses are similar.
And you can pursue PGDM immediately after graduation.
Good luck...
PGDM or Post Graduate Diploma in Management is offered by autonomous institutions as they cannot offer MBA. Today most of the students are in a confusion whether to opt for an MBA or a PGDM. Both are different but PGDM has got a couple of benefits when compared to MBA.
The major plus of PGDM course over MBA is that the curriculum of PGDM is more flexible. It will get updated from time to time. Whereas the curriculum of MBA won’t be like that, as MBA course is offered by institutions which are affiliated to universities, the curriculum will get updated once in 3-4 years or maybe more. The curriculum of MBA is more exam-oriented and covers the theoretical aspects, while that of PGDM is more industry-oriented and covers the soft skill aspects. In fact, PGDM makes you industry ready and prepares you for the market. An MBA course is for those people who would like to get a comprehensive view of the program, whereas, a PGDM course is for those who would like to specialize in their areas of interest, it’s more like having an in-depth knowledge.
MBA helps the students in developing their technical knowledge, while a PGDM course will make the students ready for senior and complex roles in management.
All the best!
