Hello.

Information Technology is primarily concerned with computer hardware and software, and telecommunications, collectively Information and Communications Technology (ICT). IT needs to be engineered into Information Systems.

Information Science is usually a social science discipline concerned with how we use and manage information including the technology behind it. This may include topics from IT and computer science, business and management sciences, information systems, knowledge management, philosophy, and of course library science. Historically speaking, information science started as (used to be called) documentation science (or documentalism) and the name was changed to information science in early 1900’s as the applications of the discipline expanded.

Hope this is helpful.

Good luck.
