UG means Undergraduation .

It can be a degree or diploma course.

Duration of degree may be three or four years such as bsc ,bcom,B.tech etc.

While diploma course duration may be two or three years such as polytechnic, diploma in management etc.

PG refers to Post graduation or Master Degree.

It is a specialised degree of their subjects of respective field.

e.g. M.tech in thermal engineering after B.Tech in Mechanical engineering.

Its duration may be two or three years.

Mostly universities offers B.tech + M.tech for 5 years.

Hope this helps

Let's start with the basic difference.UG is the short form of Under graduation and PG is the short form of post graduation.

While UG gives you a bachelor's degree such as B.A or B.Sc,PG gives you Master's degree such as M.A or M.Sc.

Undergrauation is that phase of your life where you get to enjoy and relish every part of your domain while post graduation gives you the opportunity to specialise in a particular course.

Many companies such as research oriented companies require your master's degree but there are some companies which hire Bachelor students as well.

In short, both of these play importance parts in the life of a student.

Hope this helps.
