The promotion is based upon the performance. The salary scale of director general varies between Rs.25,000 and Rs.30,000. The minimum pay scale of archeologists working in colleges and universities is around 16,000 to 20,000. A doctoral degree in this field entitles one to reach higher pay scale and it is a must for rise in this career.
