NDA 2019 is to be held on 17 November 2019. UPSC has set the NDA 2019 syllabus. NDA exam is divided into two papers - Mathematics and General Aptitude. It aims at judging a candidate on his / her logical ability and general awareness.

  • Mathematics paper contains 300 marks while General Ability test holds 600 marks. The written test will be of total 900 marks.
  • For every incorrect response, 0.33 marks will be deducted as negative marking in the examination.
  • After clearing the written test, candidates have to go through the SSB Interview. The interview process will have total 900 marks.

The NDA Written Exam consists of two papers as given below:

  1. Paper I: Mathematics
  2. Paper II: GAT ( Part A: English & Part B: General Knowledge)

NDA Syllabus For Maths is given below :-

  • a. The concept of set, operations on sets, Venn diagrams. De Morgan laws, Cartesian product, relation, equivalence relation. Representation of real numbers on a line.
  • b. Complex numbersbasic properties, modulus, argument, cube roots of unity.
  • c. The binary system of numbers. Conversion of a number in decimal system to a binary system and vice-versa.
  • d. Arithmetic, Geometric and Harmonic Progressions
  • e. Quadratic equations with real coefficients.
  • The solution of linear inequations of two variables by graphs.
  • Permutation and Combination
  • Binomial theorem and its applications
  • Logarithms and their applications.
  • . Types of matrices, operations on matrices
  • b. The determinant of a matrix, basic properties of determinants
  • c. Adjoint and inverse of a square matrix,
  • d. Applications Solution of a system of linear equations in two or three unknowns by Cramers rule and by Matrix Method.
  • Angles and their measures in degrees and in radians.

So the syllabus of maths is actually syllabus of class 11 and 12 maths.

1. NDA Syllabus For Part A English

The question paper in English will be designed to test the candidates understanding of English language and its application/usage. The syllabus covers various aspects like:

  • Grammar and usage,
  • Vocabulary,
  • Comprehension and cohesion in extended text to test the candidates proficiency in English.

2. NDA Syllabus For Part B General Knowledge


The question paper on General Knowledge will broadly cover the subjects:

  • Physics,
  • Chemistry,
  • General Science,
  • Social Studies,
  • Geography, and
  • Current Events .
