What to study in calculus portion in electrical engineering in first semester in ik gujral Punjab technical university

Hello,

The course for first year is same for all branches at IK Gujral PTU. You have to study calculus in Mathematics 1.

Unit-I: Calculus (10 hours)

Rolle’s theorem, Mean value theorems, Taylor’s and Maclaurin theorems with remainders;

Indeterminate forms and L' Hôpital's rule; Maxima and minima; Evaluation of definite and Improper integrals; Applications of definite integrals to evaluate surface areas and volumes of revolutions.

Unit-II: Multivariable Calculus (15 hours)

Limit, continuity and partial derivatives, Total derivative; Tangent plane and normal line; Maxima, minima and saddle points; Method of Lagrange multipliers; Multiple Integration: double and triple integrals (Cartesian and polar), change of order of integration in double integrals, Change of variables (Cartesian to polar), Applications: areas and volumes by (double integration), Center of mass and Gravity (constant and variable densities).
