Hello

Every year the net score required varies. That is because %ile, is nothing but the comparative rank as you might know. So, if the exam is EXTREMELY difficult, there is a high chance that you get a good %ile at a lesser score. For the past two CATs, the following data holds true, i.e., CAT 2014 and CAT 2015.

90%ile - A normalized score of 128-133 or above. Which means you would need to answer at least 43 questions correctly. But before you cement the idea in your mind, let us take a look at a couple of things:-

I mentionedNormalizedscore. Now what does it mean? As you all know, CAT is written across multiple locations around India in two sessions and all don't get the same questions. Which means that there will be a difference in difficulty according to the session and location you attend the exam from. And the IIMs set off this difference by applying weights to scores in order to make it equal. In other words, people who got tougher papers scores would be increased, orpeople who get easier papers scores would be reduced. You wouldn't know if you attempted the tougher or easier session. So, try to attempt more and make sure you get most of those attempts right too.Another great factor isACCURACY.Accuracy is nothing but the amount of questions you get right per questions attempted. When I say that you need to get 43 questions in total correct, I've assumed a 100% accuracy, i.e., you attempt 43 and get all of them right. This is slightly improbable. So, suppose you want to get 60 questions right, and you've an accuracy level of say 70%, your total attempts should be 60/70*100 = 86 questions. Here you can see that you can increase your scores by increasing your accuracy levels. You can always find your accuracy by analyzing tests you've written. You can get an approximate number.

I wish you all the best.

Cheers !!

To get 95 a scaled score of 120 is required in CAT 2017 and I think this year the scale score will be almost equal to raw score.
