when would submit NET july 2019 forms and also plz waht is the procedure of Net exams what benifit is after when we qualify it!!

NET 2019 forms will be out on second week of March 2019.

Academic qualification required to appear for NET is as follows:

  • Candidates with a master’s degree from any recognised University in Humanities, Electronic Sciences, Social Sciences and computer science and applications are eligible.
  • They need to score at least 55% marks in the NET examination. Those belonging to the reserved category need to score at least 50% marks.
  • Applicants appearing in their final qualifying examination or those waiting for the results are also fit to apply.
  • Candidates with a PhD degree or who have completed Master’s degree either on or before September 1991 can get a 5% relaxation in the total score of their qualifying examination.
  • They are required to appear for the subject of their qualifying exam only. Candidates, whose qualifying exam subject remains uncovered in the subject list as specified by UGC, are required to appear in a related subject.
Exam Pattern:

  • The National Eligibility Test consists of two papers - Paper I and Paper II.
  • The Paper I assesses the language skills, general awareness and reasoning ability of candidates, whereas the Paper II consists of questions related to the subjects that the candidates have chosen.
  • The total number of questions will be 150 in two sessions (Paper I carries 50 compulsory questions; Paper II carries 100 mandatory questions). Each question carries two marks.
  • There is no negative marking in this exam
  • Duration of the exam in three sessions is 3 hours.
Benefits after qualifiying NET:

  • Those who qualify for the award of Junior Research Fellowship are eligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject.
  • The universities, institutions, IITs and other national organizations may select the JRF awardees for whole time research work.
  • For Assistant Professor, the number of candidates to be qualified (total slots) will be equal to 6% of the candidates appeared in both the papers of NET.

University Grant Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) is conducted for the eligibility of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). Qualifying the UGC NET depends on the performance of candidates in Paper 1 and paper 2 in aggregate. Candidates who appear for UGC NET exclusively for Assistant Professor will not be considered for JRF.


The exam is conducted twice a year in July and December. UGC NET 2018 December exam was conducted first time by National Testing Agency (NTA), earlier, the exam was conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
For the UGC NET July exam, application forms are expected to be available from the first week of March.

Since the December session exam was conducted first time by NTA, I am provided you the detailed information of the UGC NET December exam.

UGC NET December exam was conducted for two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2 and the exam was held in computer based mode.
To appear for the exam, candidates must know the detailed Eligibility Criteria. Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria are only allowed to appear for the exam.

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria is decided on the basis of two factors-
Age and Educational Qualification.

Age Criteria for Junior Research Fellowship- Candidates must not be more than 30 years of age.
Age Criteria for Assistant Professor- No such upper age limit is applicable for applying for this post.


There is relaxation in Age limit for candidates belonging to the reserved categories.
For SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Female/Transgender, there is relaxation of 5 years.
For Research candidates, there is relaxation of 5 years. However, such candidates can avail relaxation only on producing the certificate issued by appropriate authority.
For Candidates pursuing L.L.M degree, there is relaxation of 3 years.
For Ex-Armyman, there is relaxation of 5 years.

Education Qualification Eligibility Criteria-
- Candidates belonging to the Unreserved Category must have scored at least 55% marks in Masters or equivalent exam and OBS/ST/SC/PWD/Transgender candidates must have scored minimum 50% marks in Masters or equivalent examination.
- Candidates who are in the final year of their qualifying examination can also apply for the examination but final year candidates must complete their graduation degree with the qualifying score as required.
- Candidates holding P.G Diploma/Certificate awarded by Indian University/Foreign Institute or hold a foreign/diploma/degree/certificate which is awarded by Foreign Universities must be equivalent to their diploma/degree/certificate recognized by Indian University to be eligible to apply for the examination.

UGC NET Exam Pattern
UGC NET exam consist of two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2 and the exam was conducted in multiple languages including English and Hindi.
Paper 1 consisted of 50 questions of 100 marks and paper 2 consisted of 100 questions carrying 200 marks. Each question of paper 1 and paper 2 was of 2 marks and there was no negative marking in the paper for incorrect response by the candidate.
Paper 1 was of general ability test. It is conducted to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It tests the candidate’s reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness abilities.
In the Paper 2, questions are asked about the subject which candidate has selected.
