Hi Abhay,
Medical and engineering both are the two different streams for a science student. It depends on whether you are interested in biology or mathematics.
Here are the details for both the courses. Decide and choose the field according to your interest.
Medical:
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery or MBBS- It is a four-and-a-half-year degree course followed by a mandatory internship of one year. To pursue the course, you should have studied Biology in Class 12th with Chemistry and Physics.
Admission- There are entrance tests like NEET UG, AIIMS MBBS and JIPMER MBBS for admission to undergraduate medical programmes (MBBS and BDS).
National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is conducted for admission to MBBS/BDS seats across all government and private medical as well as dental colleges except AIIMS and JIPMER.
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER), Puducherry conduct their separate entrance tests for admission to MBBS seats.
Scope- After completion of the course, you can choose career as a Doctor or you can go for Research work.
There are other courses also such as Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (B.A.M.S.), Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (B.H.M.S.)
Engineering
For admission to engineering colleges are through entrance exams like JEE main and state held entrance exams are also there. State based colleges give preference to candidates belonging to the state. Apart from JEE Mains, there are exams such as REAP, TNEA. Through JEE mains, candidate get admission to IITs, NITs.
Also, for engineering you must first decide where your interest lies and then decide accordingly in which branch of engineering you want to take admission in.
Preferred branches for engineering are-
Computer Science
Mechanical Engineering
Electronics and Communication
Electrical Engineering
Electrical and Electronics
Civil Engineering
Chemical Engineering
Telecommunications Engineering
Instrumentation and Control
Aeronautical Engineering
Selecting the right branch is also important.
You can go for higher studies after like M.Tech or you can choose MBA also. After M.Tech you can go for teaching profession or you can find jobs after B.tech also. Many top companies recruit talented and skilled students.
Fee structure for both the course varies from college to college. Fees for a government college is less than private colleges.
Make a wise decision. Studies and job must not be a burden. Choose for the stream that holds your interest and pursue the course in that stream only.
Good Luck!!
