Hey Krish
Concepts of Physics by Dr. H C Verma has proved to be the Bible for JEE aspirants through the years.
It is considered one of the best books for the preparation of JEE or any other engineering examination.
The book doesn't contain the best of theory or colored descriptive diagrams and is not a recommended theory book for the understanding of concepts. It is a book which can only be read once the chapter has been gone through in a class. The book's theory should not be touched by a starter.
You should thoroughly read the Ncert first. Once you complete the topic in class or the chapter by yourself through Ncert in terms of both theory and exercise you may now look for HC Verma.
The book has so many solved examples which are very useful and it is recommended to go through those examples after a chapter is over in a class.
Also the Questions for Short Answers are there to build concepts very strongly. It gives a very deep insight for the understanding of the chapter.
The Objective - 1 (Single Correct Type) & Objective - 2 (Multiple Correct Type) were included in the book even before such questions were asked in JEE Advanced examination which gives a futuristic theme to the book. These are some of the best chosen questions one can do to improve concepts and check the level of learning.
The Exercises in every chapter include questions ranging from the easiest to the toughest and are arranged level wise. The difficulty level of questions increases very smoothly and gives a proper practice to each and every concept in detail. These questions include multiple concept related questions which makes them challenging as well as JEE Patterned.
In all it is one of the best books available for doing questions related to JEE in all aspects.
Many new books claim to be better but fail to match it's level in terms of quality of questions. There have been instances when JEE has asked questions directly from the book.
Feel free to ask any other query.
Hello Aspirant,
For JEE Mains / Advanced, the HC Verma is very good. For Physics, HC Verma is best and it introduces the topic line by line in a easy understanding way. You can start reading this book from now and the examples for each model will be explained in a better way that even the slow learner can understand. There will be lots of questions given at the end of each chapter which helps to practice more and more. The Arihant is also a good book. You can practice questions from Arihant too..
Hope this will help you. Good Luck.
Hello Aspirant, I want to suggest you to take the HC Verma book because it have a lot of Numerical portion and each numerical have a new concept. Arihant is also good but in compare to HC verma it is not effective. So you choose HC Verma for the Jee Main and Advance.
I hope this will help you.
Questions asked in JEE Advance demand conceptual clarity from students rather tha facts and direct formulas.
HC Verma is one if the best books to prepare Physics for JEE Advance.
Practicing previous year question papers and exercises given in the book itself will build a strong foundation of yours in Physics.
So, go with HC Verma.

Good luck
HC Verma is a far better option in terms of the explanation it provides of the concepts of MAINS and ADVANCED. Arihant is basically something very compact and more problem oriented and HC Verma is all about concepts and clarity along with problem solving. Cengage Publication is also a great option. Well there is no book less likely to get you going through your preparation period, it is you who have to make the most out of it.
Good Luck !!
