Branch doesn't matter if you are not interested.  Go for the branch you are interested in.

I think it is depends on you  choice your branch according to your choice. But according to previous year placement than maximum placement in mechanical engineering so you can choose mechanical engineering if you want to core branch but you want IT sector than you can choose CSE.

Tarun , From some research on Internet I found that Mechanical Engineering (M.E.) is one of the best branch in NIT Durgapur because the studies and placement both are good in that branch and the highest placement was also from Mechanical.
