Hey,

You can generally pursue any of the course in your graduation of your interest and choice while preparing along side for the UPSC.

However, Humanities field certainly helps in preparation of the UPSC Examination, however, the selection rate shows that their is no as such reliable data which shows that candidates from a certain field do crack this exam.

You can choose the subjects which fascinates you more as that subject can be chosen over as an optional subjects which is like a milestone for UPSC Selection.

This is because even if you go for BA, it will obviously not cover all the subjects in UPSC. You will certainly need to prepare them along sides as the syllabus generally varies. So, better to go with the option of your choice, because there is no best degree for UPSC.

Hi

You can choose any subject or course  of your choice based on your interest for your graduation .

This is because,

to be eligible for UPSC  examination there is no compulsion to be a graduate in a particular subject, all you need to be eligible is that you should be a graduate in any discipline and 21- 32 years old  , so you are free to do 10+2 and graduation in any subject. You can check upsc eligibility criteria at https://competition.careers360.com/articles/upsc-ias-eligibility-criteria/amp

So you can choose any discipline of your interest, but yes if you choose BA or Arts

then

choosing Arts can be really helpful for your UPSC  examination, this is because in Arts you will be learning subjects like history , polity etc which are a part of the UPSC syllabus so it will help you in your upsc examination

For reference, UPSC eligibility  criteria is provided below:-

*Minimum  age  limit :-  you  need to  be at least  21  years  old   to be  eligible as on 1st of August of the year of filling the form i. e as on 1st August 2021 for UPSC 2021.

Hello aspirant,

The usual choice of UPSC appearing candidates is Political science honours or History Honours or infact BA in any course. This is because it gives you alot of exposure about politics and the ongoing events around the country and these subjects are also a part of UPSC syllabus. Also, BA is comparatively easy to pass than other courses so it won't be a hinderance in your UPSC preparation.

You can check some UPSC preparation tricks here
