Hi

You can choose any of science ,commerce or arts stream based on your interest after your 10th for your 10 +2 and then for graduation.

This is because,

to be eligible for UPSC  examination there is no compulsion to be a graduate in a particular subject, all you need to be eligible is that you should be a graduate in any discipline , so you are free to do 10+2 and graduation in any subject.

But yes,

choosing Arts or the humanities in your 10+2 and graduation can be really helpful for your UPSC  examination, this is because in Arts you will be learning subjects like history , polity etc which are a part of the UPSC syllabus so it will help you in your upsc examination.

Thankyou

Dear Aspirant,

There is no particular course that you have to pursue to become an IAS officer. Any stream students can go for UPSC However if you are certain that you want to pursue UPSC than you should go for humanities that is art stream.

Subjects like political science, history, sociology etc. makes the base for UPSC mains.

UPSC has 3 stage selection process involving Prelims, Mains and Interview which tests your personality test. Prelims has 2 Papers namely General Studies and CSAT.
