Hello hello,
There are several criteria one has to fulfil for getting a seat in the defence sector. It is a must to have a Bachelor degree for applying for defence jobs.
See, Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science is very common to have. But nobody is sure that they will grab the defence jobs. So better to acquire the degree as a chance for getting jobs if they failed in the defence sector. You can acquire an engineering degree as a second option because you will be able to do jobs as well.
Armed forces recruitment is not only for engineers, doctors and lawyers are also in demand. Apart from this, I will suggest you get an engineering degree majorly focused on mechanical, computer science, electrical etc.
Also, there is no foundation for any particular field. Every bachelor degree holder can join defence services.
I hope this answer helps you. Check out this link for more detailed information: https://www.careers360.com/careers/career-in-defence-after-engineering

Hi,
I hope you are doing well.
If one has a Bachelor degree then one shall apply for the officer entry in the Indian Armed Forces.
Earlier, degrees like B.Sc. & B.A. were quite common among the commissioned officers. There were B.Tech or B.E. holders also, but not that much in number.
As times changed, those holding degrees in Engineering became more and more common. Also, the requirements in the Armed Forces have changed considerably of late and those with degrees in Engineering have more officers’ entries (SSC and TGC entries), in addition to the CDSE or AFCAT or now INET for Indian Navy.
The main thing is that whatever Bachelor degree you possess, you must have a good understanding of your stream PLUS your personality must be in alignment with what is required to become a military leader.
Work hard on your personality.
All the best.
