Hey

Here is a basic comparison between BITS and NIT.
BITS stands for Birla Institute of Technology, is a deemed university and comprises of four branches in Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad, and Dubai. Since it is a private university it has an edge over NIT's in terms of its infrastructure, lab facilities, trained faculty etc. The quality of students is also better in NITs as the admission is purely on the basis of merit list of the BITSAT exam.
NIT stands for National Institute of Technology and comprises of approx 30 institutions under it. As already mentioned BITS carry an edge over NITS in certain aspects but if money is the matter of concern then NITS carry an edge over BITS because these are more economical. NIT also covers a wider syllabus of technology and is better if you wish to have core technological knowledge.
At the I would suggest that both institutes are comparable in terms of their placements and have an almost same syllabus for both the exams so appear for both.
Hope it helps.
