Well, lemme explain elaborately:

Biotechnology:

After BTech, you can find jobs in pharmaceutical companies, research labs, and institutions in India. However, you may go abroad to pursue your masters or doctorate studies in Biotechnology and allied fields. You can also shift to MBA and enter the world of business, finance, and banking. Also, you can shift to software through on-campus placements. Talking about on-campus placements, since the number of job openings is very less in Biotechnology, the number of companies coming for placements will be very less. Also, core companies only hire students from universities such as IITs, NITs etc. If your university is not reputed nationally or state wise, to be frank and precise, chances of any biotech or pharmaceutical company coming for placements sessions will be close to nil.

Biomedical:

Here also, you can go for higher studies in India or in abroad. But here you will get more exposure to top companies like

  • Stryker Global Technology Center
  • Stryker Global Technology Center
  • Deloitte Consulting India Pvt Ltd
  • Texas Instruments Inc.
  • Phillips Healthcare
  • Orbees Medical
  • Siemens
  • Covidien
  • L&T
  • And you have the options to go to the research labs like (I'm talking about inside India only)

    • Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering, IIT Bombay
    • Centre for Biomedical Engineering, IIT Delhi
    • School of Biomedical Engineering, IIT BHU
    • Department of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering (BSBE), IIT Kanpur
    • Department of Biomedical Engineering, IIT Hyderabad
    • Department of Applied Mechanics, IIT Madras
    • Department of Biomedical Engineering, IIT Ropar
    • Centre for Biosciences and Biomedical Engineering (BSBE), IIT Indore
    • School of Medical Science and Technology, IIT Kharagpur
    • Department of Bioengineering, CMC Vellore
    • Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc), Bangalore
    • General Electric Global Research, Bangalore, India

According to me, you will have more chances in Biomedical as this branch is growing in quite faster rate.

    Dear friend,

Biomedical stream offers great career prospects, specially if you are interested in

    side of the work.

Biomedical Engineers are required at all Multi-speciality hospitals and for development of devices for easing medical equipment related requirements of patients.

After graduating in Biomedical Engg., one can pursue MBA in Hospital Management. This can offer better career prospects. Apart from this one can take up research in Biomedical field - in institutes like IIT Delhi, etc.

Genetics and everything under it and research on the same for betterment of mankind comes under the scope of Biotechnology.

According to me biomedical is better than biotechnology.
