Which is better branch for manufacturing student to take GATE exam.(production or mechanical branch)
GATE 2025: Syllabus | Sample Papers
Hello saurav,
Dear if you are from mechanical engineering stream than apply GATE from Mechanical. As if you will get general rank below 600 air than you will have a interview letters from very reputed PSU public sector unit and also you have a options for mtech from IITs.
While if you will apply GATE from production stream than you have only 1 option i.e. Mtech. This is the best way also to get mtech in IITs.
But if you are a production engineering graduate anf you are going to apply for GATE than after getting good rank you have either 2 or 3 PSU and mtech from good institute.
Hello,
Your confusion is valid, but it is not upto a total stranger to decide what is good for you. If you are good at the concepts that are taught in mechanical then it is good for you. Likewise, applies for production. It is better for you to consider pursuing masters in production because it has many things in common with your under graduate branch. If you are interested in mechanical engineering, you can take it. Everything is going to depend on your performance. So pick the branch you are interested in. You will get a good job if you are good at it.
