hello,
NIT silchar and jalandhar is somewhat same. It does not create a lot of diference. You can choose whichever nit you want because they are same in all aspacts like in placements, campus, package etc. Since they both are similar may be the place factor you want to opt. If you are looking for a good place to visit then you can opt for jalandhar as this place has lots of manufacturing units where mechanical and electrical scopes are higher than Silchar
hope this will help you
all the best!!
