According to me, Chandigarh University is better than CGC. Though CGC landran is sister concern of Chandigarh University. But Chandigarh University has its own brand value. So according to me, you should go for Chandigarh University.

Basically CU has its University rights offers graduate and postgraduate as well doctorate program in all domains and CGC is affiliated to state university .

So as per my concern in the term of program offered by University, university is the best as it has all major top ranking and CU is going for ABET us based ranking .So CU is best. as compare to CGC .If you want degree as per state government then you choose CGC lyndra as it is the sister concern of CU.

Choosing a college is a very personal choice, completely based upon the criteria you want. If you want a very pleasant experience, then it is best to opt for Chandigarh University. Moreover, it is equally good if you want to rather pursue your studies thoroughly.

Joint placement program- the placements of both the colleges happen together, so I guess it wouldn't be a deciding factor.

Establishment- Chandigarh university was setup in 2012, while Chandigarh group of colleges was setup in 2001. Bonus points for cgc!

Exposure- If you're thinking that you would get a better exposure and culture at CU because it's a university, then, hello? CGC also offers other programs than engineering ! Doesn't the name clarifies it all? CHANDIGARH GROUP OF COLLEGES!  Duh!

Advertising- have you ever come across an ad welcoming you to join cgc? But you must have noticed the television commercials and newspaper advertisement of Chandigarh university. I have. Cgc wins here too.

Scholarship- Chandigarh university beats cgc here, one can avail 50% tuition fees discount here just by scoring 9.6 or above cgpa in X class.  Bingo right? Wrong, after the deduction of 50% fees, the amount you will have to pay would be equal to what you'll pay at cgc. So I guess minus points for cu for using such gimmicks.

All in all, cgc would be a better choice among the two. :)
