Language is one of the most important factor that might make issues for students who are not comfortable in a particular language.
It is not sure whether there is a strict criteria of using and communicating in any particular language. English being the most common medium for languages nowadays.
But it is not fixed that it will be completely in English.

The faculty speaks in English. It is very important for you to have command over the language. You must have a strong command of the language. Not only should you be able to speak, but you should also be able to converse. You should be able to effectively communicate your message.
When you enter IIMs, you will realise how important communication skills are. It's more of a life skill than anything else.
