Firstly I would tell you that there are 7 medical colleges in the city of Mangalore and KS HEGDE is 3rd most preferred. ( 1st KMC , 2nd Father Muller's).

Now considering the amount of medical colleges in the city , the amount of patients you get will be less because KS HEGDE is situated in the outskirts of the city and the area where KS Hegde is located it has 2 medical colleges in line with it. There's a road called Konaje Road which leads to YENEPOYA MEDICAL COLLEGE ,KS HEDE , Kanachur MC . These 3 medical colleges are like neighbours. People prefer to go to hospitals which are present inside the city rather than outskirts.(That's why KMC and Father Muller's are most preferred)

K S Hegde Medical Academy is part of Nitte Deemed to be university and it is one of the rapidly developing colleges in Mangalore but faces difficulties because of multiple medical colleges in the location. Patient load is fair not the best you could wish for.

In detail -

Education : The teaching part is good with good professors and average patient in flow, and the academics are moderately strict and 75% atttandance is compulsory for appearing in exams.

Fees : college fees-12.75lakhs for mbbs 18–19, hostel fee-50k, mess fee-30k(these are approximate figures)

Mess food : mess food is good but not the best, you can eat it every day but you get bored with the food with in months of joining(i think that is the case with every hostel mess). Lots of food outlets around, it won't be much of a problem.

Hostel : Recently constructed, it is in very good condition, little strict with the rules and regulations.

Infrastructure : recently college and the hospital is renovated and a new lecture hall complex is built, so infrastructure wise u will be getting best infrastructure with ac lecture halls

Fests : There are some cultural events sometimes.

Sports : we have a basketball court, tennis court, football ground to indoor tt is also available, gym is equipped with all the needed equipments

KSHEMA life: KSHEMA is situated in the outskirts of Mangalore city but travel wouldn't be problem. Mangalore is a good city and has its special delicacies which you should try out.

Language : Most of the patients speak Kannada here so you should be learning the Kannada basics, but there are alot of patients from Kerala so you should know both Malayalam and Kannada. Apart from these Tulu is local language but most patients would know either Kannada or Malayalam.
