During the Gupta dynasty, the main silver coin was the Rupaka.The Rupaka was a circular coin with a 2 centimetre diameter. Although most coins were made of pure silver, others were composed of silver alloyed with copper or gold. The front of the coin bears the figure of the king, while the reverse bears the Gupta royal insignia. The Rupaka was a valuable currency that was utilised in trade and commerce. It was also utilised in religious donations as a type of cash.
