Which states do have post MD rural bond service
Dear Sonalika,
There is very severe
short-fall of trained doctors in rural parts of India. Government
took some steps in order to make services of trained doctors
available in rural parts. It is a stop-gap arrangement to ensure
village dwellers’ access to quality healthcare services. So,
respective state governments made provision that MBBS/BDS/MD students
studying in the their institutes will sign a bond accepting that
after completing their degree they will serve in the rural areas of
the state or they will pay a certain amount as fine. The main motto
of this arrangement was to improve healthcare services in remote
areas which is very far from realizing the benefits of improved
health services in a country like India which is benefiting from
health tourism and had become a hot destination for offering quality
health services at very cheap rate. States like Delhi, Haryana,
Chandigarh, Manipur don't have post MD Rural service bond. Instead of
seeking admission in colleges of these states, medical professionals
should volunteer to offer their services in rural areas.
With best wishes!
