which stream i have to chose after 10th for upsc
Hello dear aspirant ,
Hope you’re doing well..
If you want to go for UPSC or civil services exam later in life, it is ok to choose any stream in class 11th and 12th. You can choose any stream but the most useful is humanities as it involves the study of same subjects which you will study for IAS.
You can focus on humanities arts stream because in upsc 70% preparation is based on this four subjects That is :economics ,history, political science, geography etc +current affairs.
Hope this helps you decide .

Please ask if you have any more questions.
All the best for your future!!

- However There are other eligibility criteria. General category student can give UPSC exam only for 6 attempts.

- However for becoming science officer via UPSC you need to complete your 12th class with science subjects.
Hello,
Firstly the eligibility criteria to appear for UPSC is passed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university, candidates can apply even in the final year, they are required to attain 21 years as on 1st August of the appearing year, now coming to your question there is no such restrictions of belonging to specific stream when it comes to appearing for UPSC, if you go by previous year trends , toppers come from as diverse backgrounds as that of medical/engineering/commerce/science etc, hence it's not that only graduates from humanities background qualify this exam, they only have one advantage is they are already well acquainted with the syllabus in the sense they study the subjects which come in UPSC throughout 10+2/ graduation level, in case of others they have to start afresh, another important thing is whether you're contemplating to appear for UPSC with or without back up plan, especially in your case there is long to go to appear for UPSC, hence if you chose to have back up plan, go for stream of your choice, it can be anything, as I said there is no restrictions, else if you find subjects like political science, history, geography, economics, public administration, sociology to name a few interesting enough, you can go for major in any of these subjects, there is also considerable overlap with the syllabus of general studies and that of optional subjects in UPSC.
