In order to become a software engineer , a candidate has to either pursue Bachelor of Technology ( B.Tech ) or Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) after passing class 12. Thus, after having passed class 10 when students have to opt for the stream that decides the foundation of direction in which their careers head, they should keep mathematics and computer science as the main subjects which can be done by opting PCM with computer science as additional subject.

If you want to go for software engineering field then after class 10th you should opt for SCIENCE stream and choose one optional subject apart from Physics,Chemistry,Mathematics and English.The optional subject list includes COMPUTER SCIENCE,PHE,HINDI,ECONOMICS,...and more.I will suggest you to opt for computer science subject as this will help you in Btech course and you will have some extra knowledge of programming at that time.
