About Aliah University, Kolkata
Aliah University was established in the year 1780. Aliah University is a state university that is under the Department of Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education, Government of West Bengal. Aliah University in its present form came into existence in the year 2007.
Aliah University is also accredited by the NAAC(National Assessment and Accreditation Council) and is given an AA+ grade in engineering. Aliah University is a UGC, AICTE, and NCTE-approved autonomous institute. Aliah University is controlled by the state government and spans about 20 acres, with 200 faculty members supporting more than 5800 student enrollments. Aliah University offers B.Tech., BA, BCA, B. Ed, B. Sc., M. Tech., MBA, M. Sc., MA, MCA, and Ph.D. courses to interested candidates. Aliah University admission to the courses is based on merit basis except for B.Tech courses which require WBJEE exam scores. Aliah University was first set up by Warren Hastings in New Town in 1780. This is why it forms one of the oldest institutes in the country. Previously known as the Calcutta Madrasah or the Mohammedan College of Calcutta, Aliah University Kolkata spans across an area of 20 acres now.
It was converted into a university in 2008 and now has about 200 faculty members with more than 5800 student enrollments. It is approved by the UGC and is given the AA+ grade by the NAAC(National Assessment and Accreditation Council) in engineering. It offers many undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses in a plethora of fields like arts, sciences, technology, engineering, nursing, and Islamic theology. It is essentially a state university and therefore provides many scholarships that are provided by the state government and the university itself.

The university provides a variety of scholarships to many students who are weak financially or form minority groups. This is done to support their education and encourage them to study further. Therefore, students can study by paying a nominal or no fee and have no financial burden on themselves.

In our course, classrooms are well equipped, and there are smart classrooms as well. If a professor needs to explain something. they use it. Labs are well equipped and tools and machineries are new and functional. There is free Wi-Fi for students all over the campus, except in the classroom. There is a central library from which you can get access to your course books and research papers

Unfortunately, you won't be eligible for the BCA program at Aliah University because the eligibility criteria for BCA is that the applicants are required to achieve a 10+2 score in each specialization (Arts, Commerce, Science) by a recognized body with an overall grade of 50. Applicants must have English and Maths as compulsory subjects in 12th grade.
