Hi Nandini,
This is a very real and painful question, and I can only offer some insights on why this is the case.
Primarily, a reason that is accepted by us is that the NLUs lack sufficient funding from the government. With no recognition as institutes of national importance, it seems evident that NLUs are struggling to keep up their standards and use this excuse to justify the high fees. Most of them are still at a developing stage and hence the fees also include building fund etc as a constituent element. Law books are also very expensive and maintenance of library requires a large amount of money.
Another reason is that, it has a demand side dimension as well. One look at the backgrounds of students who get into NLUs shows you that they do not have any doubts about paying the fees. At least not as significantly as to stop them from joining one. Thus, the problems associated with high fees have so far never been considered to be mainstream problems for law students. The few voices that did protest were brushed aside quoting the placement figures at the top NLUs.
Dear student,
As you would be aware that its very difficult to get through HPNLU, I would like to sadly inform you that you dont have a chance of getting it as the cut off for the general category generally ranges somewhere between 80-90. I would further suggest you to try for other colleges.
All the best.I hope this was helpful to you.
Hello
Clat has always been very dynamic and unpredictable and this year the expected cut off is also high as the paper was easy now as per your rank you do have a chance of getting into hpnlu though your chances are slight but if we previous years cut off trends you sona have a chance so wait patiently and hope for the best keep your fingers crossed.
I hole this help you and if you have any more questions please drop a comment below.
Best of luck.
If enterance exam for both HPNLU nd Lsat are on same date then in my view one will go for LSAT because with LSAT you would be having wider option of colleges with you.
going with HNLU will restrict your options. And if you want to have NLU then you have other 18 options left.
i hope this serve your query. Good Luck

Hello Rajat,
In the second list, the closing cutoff rank for an SC Category candidate is 11884 in HPNLU Shimla. Both your category rank and AIR are considered for admission in an NLU. There is a very less likely chance that in the third list as well, the cutoff might dip to 34991. However, you can consider NLUJAA Guwahati as there, the cutoff rank in the second list is 31022, so in the third list, if there are vacant seats left, the cutoff might actually fit your rank.
Wait patiently for the third list but do keep a track of other institutes as well to keep your options open.
All the Best!
As himachal pradesh national law university is in its initial phase so the infrastructure is not so good but the library is in its best condition and internet is provided to both college and hostels and there are also the smart classrooms. The food is also hygienic.
