The infrastructure is pretty bad here at nujs. BSc LLB students don't have a hostel on the main campus and have to live in a 2nd Campus requsitioned by the college from BSNL. We also have a separate acad block than BA students.
I am studying BSc LLB in Forensic Science and Criminology and it is a unique course only offered by NUJS. The curriculum is relevant to the field of law and we have great professors who are experts in their respective fields.
The placements at NUJS are quite good with a majority of the batch securing great jobs at law firms or as in-house counsels. So long as you make sure to stay among the top in your classes you do not have to worry about the job you'll secure. The average salary is around 12-14 lacs I think,
The fees is high for a government college but looking at the placements we would secure after the degree I feel it is justified. It is a hefty investment considering the fee is at par with many private colleges but the return on investment makes up for it.
The campus life is great. There's a ton of events like dandiya night, costume party, games night, etc. that happen all throughout the year so I would say the NUJS campus is happening. If you're bored, there's always the city of joy, Kolkata for you to explore.
The infrastructure of the college isn't the best. Since the college campus is in the middle of the city, it is only about five acres. There is also a lot of construction taking place because they are trying to expand and improve.
I am studying BSc LLB in Criminology and Forensic Science here at NUJS. It is an interesting course. Only one other NLU offers a BSc LLB since the norm is BALLB only. It is a unique and interdisciplinary course offered solely by NUJS in India.
As a first year, I don't have much insight on what the placements are like. BSc LLB is a new course and the first BSc LLB batch will graduate in 2028. Only then will we know what the placements are like. Hence, I will give it a moderating rating of three stars for now.
As per the fee charged, the facilities are nice. We have great faculty and course material. Library is air conditioned and resourceful. All in all, the fee of around 3-4 lacs per year is being well utilised by the college.
The campus life is great. Since the campus is in the middle of the city, we can always go out and explore. There are always fun events being organised by the many student-run societies in the college.
Hello
Yes, attending an NLU like WBNUJS is possible for a student from a lower-middle-class family.
Many NLUs, including WBNUJS, offer financial aid, scholarships, and fee waivers based on merit or need. Additionally, government scholarships, private grants, and student loans are available to help cover fees.
It's important to research and apply for these opportunities. Speak to the university's financial aid office or senior students for guidance.
Don’t let fees discourage you—many students from similar backgrounds have successfully pursued their dreams with the right support and planning.
Hope it helps !
HI RAMIZA,
CONGRATULATIONS ON SUCCESS IN THE EXAMINATION.
CLAT CUT OFF changes every year. For NLU Kolkata BA LLB and LLM programs it will depend on several factors like -
Number of candidates for CLAT 2023
Number of candidates preferring NLU Kolkata during counselling
Number of places offered by the university in BA LLB and LLM programmes
University Reservation Policy
Category of candidates
FOR 2022 THE CUT OFFS WERE :
GENERAL- 579
GENERAL state domiciled- 1423
SC- 3172
ST - 3113
since general state domiciled is way beyond your state OBC rank so there is high probability of getting into this college under OBC seat.
For more information on the college you can look into following link:
thank you!!
