The digital media industry in India has grown by over 38% in the last five years. India is the second country globally with the largest number of internet users, more than 600 million. However, more than half of the Indian population does not have access to the internet. The Digital Media online programme addresses the aspects of digital inequality and representation in media.
During the MJM028: Digital Media online course by Swayam, candidates will explore topics such as the emerging trends in communication, the aspect of access to digital media, social media in the Indian milieu, the internet as a tool for social empowerment, and much more. This programme will run for 16 weeks, and candidates can earn four credits by completing the course.
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) provides this training on Swayam. The Digital Media online course will help candidates analyse the role of the internet and social media in India. Dr K S Arun Selvan from IGNOU teaches this programme via online mode.

The Digital Media live course by IGNOU does not require candidates to submit an application form. They can directly gain access to the course contents by registering on Swayam. For this, they need to give their username, email ID and password.

Dr K S Arun Selvn, Associate Professor at the School of Journalism and New Media Studies, IGNOU, will teach this programme online. He has 13 years of teaching experience and was a part of the BBC World Service as a mentor and trainer.
