The Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, located in Hisar, is an independent institution founded in 2010. LUVAS Hisar derives its name from Lala Lajpat Rai, a prominent patriot, freedom fighter, dedicated social reformer, and accomplished writer. The College of Veterinary Sciences and the College of Animal Sciences, formerly constituent colleges of CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, have now become part of this newly established university. The university is currently located on the campus of CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar. LUVAS Hisar is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). 

Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (LUVAS), Hisar at present offers Diploma, B.V.Sc and AH, M.V.Sc and Ph.D courses to the students. LUVAS provides great infrastructure facilities which include - separate hostel accommodation for male and female students, a library, department-based laboratories, a gym, a cafeteria, an auditorium, and other facilities.

It takes around 5-10 minutes to reach LUVAS from Hisar junction, situated at a distance of 2.3 Km. Maharaja Agrasen International Airport or Hisar Airport is situated at a distance of 7.1 Km from the LUVAS Hisar University.
