72 MonthsDoctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) is an offered Full-time Doctoral program and it is offered by the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology, Nirjuli. Ph.D. programme shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work and a maximum of six years. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned.
This programme focuses on various areas such as designing a system, components or process to meet desired needs like economic, environmental, social, safety and sustainability. The degree will be provided by North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates having Master’s Degree in Engineering & Technology with 60% marks in aggregate or CGPA 6.5 on 10.00 point scale and 55% marks in aggregate in Science/Humanities for General category. 5% marks relaxation will be given to SC/ST/PWD category in both the cases. Applicants, who wish to pursue Ph.D. while in employment /service, need to submit NOC from (Annexure-IV) their employer at the time of counselling cum admission.
Admission Details
- The candidates with valid GATE/NET score including JRF (UGC/CSIR/ICAR)/ SLET/Lecturer fellowship and M.Phil. will be given priority.
- The candidates will have to go through the written test and to qualify this exam they should score a minimum of 50 marks.
- Interview/Viva Voce Will be conducted by the respective department.
