The Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir Srinagar, established in 1982, is an institution with multiple campuses. SKUAST Kashmir is an ICAR, ICFRE, and VCI-accredited institution and offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctoral programs across six faculties, namely Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and more.

Sher-E-Kashmir University provides UG courses such as B.Sc (H), B.F.Sc, BE/B.Tech, and B.V.Sc. PG courses offered by SKUAST include M.Sc, M.V.Sc, and M.Tech. The duration of the Undergraduate courses at SKUAST Srinagar is 4 years, except for B.V.Sc which lasts for 5 years. On the other hand, the postgraduate courses have a duration of 2 years. Additionally, SKUAST offers Ph.D. programs in various specialisations.

The admission process for various courses at SKUAST-K Srinagar differs based on the type of programme. For UG courses such as B.Sc (H), B.F.Sc, and B.V.Sc, candidates need to take the University Entrance Test (UET). On the other hand, for admission to the B.Tech course at SKUAST Kashmir, scores from exams like JEE Main or JKCET are required.

The placement and career counselling cell of Sher-e-Kashmir University Srinagar facilitates campus placement opportunities for its students. As per the NIRF 2024 data, the median salary of 4-year UG courses was Rs 10.50 Lakhs, and that of 5-year UG graduates was Rs 11.00 Lakhs. PG graduates were offered a median salary of Rs 13.50 Lakhs.

SKUAST Kashmir Srinagar offers scholarships and financial aid to economically disadvantaged students, SC/ST, and other backward classes. The university provides need-based and merit-based scholarships, including those from the central and state governments. SKUAST Kashmir Srinagar is the main campus of the university and covers 200 acres with a well-developed infrastructure. SKUAST facilities include hostels, a library, an auditorium, a canteen, labs, and more.

Sher-e-Kashmir University Srinagar Location

SKUAST Kashmir Srinagar is situated at Shalimar Campus, approximately 15 kilometres from the Srinagar International Airport and 12 kilometres from the Srinagar Railway Station, in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. To reach the university, one can take a local bus or a taxi from the airport or the railway station as the campus is well-connected by roads. Additionally, buses run frequently from different parts of the city to Shalimar, making it easily accessible by bus. The nearest railway station is Jammu Tawi Railway Station, located about 300 km away, and the nearest airport is the Srinagar International Airport, located about 25 km away.
