24 MonthsM.A. in English with a specialisation in Post-Colonial Literature is a two-year full-time course of Department of Humanities and Social Sciences. and course offered by Sikkim Manipal University, Gangtok.
The programme aims at enabling the students to explore in influential works of the English Literature, read complex texts actively: recognize key passages; raise questions; appreciate complexity and ambiguity; comprehend the literal and figurative uses of language.
The programme is designed to encourage the students to practice writing as a process of motivated inquiry, engaging other writers’ ideas through the use of quotations, paraphrase, allusions, summary and to use sources well and cite them correctly.
The programme also aims to increase confidence in speaking publicly: articulate clear questions and ideas in class discussion; listen thoughtfully and respectfully to others’ ideas; and prepare, organize, and deliver engaging oral presentations.
A candidate must have passed Bachelor of Arts/Commerce or equivalent with 50% of marks (45% in case of SC/ST/OBC).
Admission is based on the Merit, based on marks in the qualifying examination.
