Bikali College, Dhupdhara Admission Process

Bikali College, Dhupdhara is a co-educational college. It is a constituent college affiliated with Goalpara in Assam. It admits students for undergraduate and postgraduate courses through strictly merit-based admission. The institution is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and offers a wide variety of courses across disciplines
Bikali College organizes itself toward selecting deserving candidates on the basis of their merits at entry. To the effect, the college authority establishes a selective process for different courses, so as to ensure an open admission process. 

The only difference is that the dates keep changing every year, but the general rule is that admissions usually start a few months before the academic year commences. The minimum qualification for admission is that the candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary examination (10+2) from a recognized board. The marks secured in the qualifying exam remain the primary factor for their selection while some of the courses carry additional subject-specific eligibility criteria which an applicant must meet to be eligible for the admission process.

Application Process

2. Application Form: The application form could either be collected from the college or downloaded from the official web page (if available online).

3. Filling of Application Form: Interested applicants are to carefully fill out the application form with the needed information on personal credentials, academic qualification, and course preferences.

4. Document Submission: In addition to the filled application form, candidates must include documents such as:

  • 10th and 12th standard mark sheets
  • Pass certificates for 10th and 12th standard
  • Character certificate from the last institution attended
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Recent passport-size photographs. 

5.Application Submission: The completed application form must then be submitted with the relevant documents at the college office on or before the last date of submission.

6. Preparation of a Merit List: The college authority shall prepare a merit list based on marks obtained in the qualifying examination and on any other requirement prescribed for a particular course.

7. Notification of the Merit List: The merit list shall then be declared on the college notice board and/or the official website.

8. Counseling and Admission: The students shortlisted in the merit list are called for the counseling process, where they select their preferred courses based on the ranks and the seats available.

9. Fee Payment: The candidate will have to pay the stipulated admission fees within a specified time frame to confirm his admission.

10. Document Verification: The college verifies all original documents at the time of admission.

Degree-Wise Admission Process

BA Programs: Bikali College has a number of BA courses under different subjects. Admission into a BA course is based on merit; however the selection procedure is done by the college authority. Some of the most famous BA programs are:

  1. BA in Political Science – 200
  2. BA in Education – 200
  3. BA Elective Assamese – 120
  4. BA in History – 100
  5. BA in Geography – 100
  6. BA Economics – 80
  7. BA Elective Bodo – 80

Popular BA Major programs include Assamese Major, Education Major, Political Science Major, History Major, Geography Major, Bodo Major, English Major, and Economics Major, which are typically 20-50 seats in total, across all programs.

B.Sc Degrees: The B.Sc curriculum also has a wide variety of subjects. Just like the BA courses have followed merit, so also do B.Sc courses, and all are through a selection procedure conducted by the college authority. The B.Sc courses on offer include:

  1. B.Sc Botany (30 seats)
  2. B.Sc Chemistry (30 seats)
  3. B.Sc Zoology (30 seats)
  4. B.Sc Physics (30 seats)

With a total of 20 seats each, Physic, Zoologists, and Botanists fall into the B.Sc major programs.

B.Com Programs: The College offers B.Com but with different specializations. The merit-based admission procedure to these programs is similar to those of other undergraduate programs. B.Com programs include:

  1. B.Com Finance Major (20 seats)
  2. B.Com Management Major (20 seats)
  3. B.Com Accountancy Major (20 seats)

MA Programs: The college offers master's degrees in some selected subjects. Admission into the MA courses is based on merit, further supplemented by a selection process instituted by the college authority. Some of these MA courses are as follows:

  1. MA Assamese (30 seats)
  2. MA Geography (10 seats)

Diploma Program: The college will be providing the Diploma course in Computer Hardware and Networking. Admission to this program is, however, also on merit.
