CMSDH Kolkata Admission Process

College of Medicine and Sagore Dutta Hospital (CMSDH) in Kolkata is among the most recognized medical colleges in West Bengal. The college has a merit-based admission procedure to select only the best students for its courses. CMSDH is accredited by National Medical Commission and offers undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses.

For the undergraduate courses, CMSDH takes NEET UG scores into consideration. NEET UG is a national-level test which is mandatory for all the students who want to study medicine. The admission process generally begins after the announcement of results of NEET UG, usually in the second half of the year.

Admission in postgraduate programs of CMSDH is provided on National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Post Graduate (NEET PG) basis. The counselling of NEET PG for the following session will take place from January 1-2, 2025, for Round 3 - allotment of seat processing.

Application Process

Application process for CMSDH varies according to the program:

For MBBS:

1. Pass NEET UG exam with marks higher than the cut-off.
2. Get registered in the state counselling process (as CMSDH is a state college in West Bengal).
3. Fill the application form and submit along with documents.
4. Pay the application fee as set by the counselling authority.
5. Report to the counselling session if allotted, according to your NEET UG rank.
6. If a seat is allotted, deposit admission formalities at CMSDH, i.e., documentation and fee deposition.

For MD/MS programs:

1. Clear NEET PG exam.
2. Get registered for the NEET PG counselling process.
3. Fill up the postgraduate program application form of CMSDH.
4. Submit application form with documents and application fee.
5. Report for counselling or interview rounds if shortlisted.
6. If selected, complete the admission procedure at CMSDH.

Degree wise Admission Process

MBBS: College of Medicine and Sagore Dutta Hospital offers 100 seats for MBBS. MBBS admission is done purely on the basis of the rank secured by the candidate in NEET UG. The fee for the MBBS course is approximately Rs 47,020 in total. The candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and secured the minimum marks of NEET UG cut-off to be considered for admission.

MD/MS Courses: CMSDH offers a variety of postgraduate medical courses like MD Anesthesiology, MD Community Medicine, MD Psychiatry, MD Paediatrics, MD Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, MS Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and MS Ophthalmology. The admissions are based on scores achieved in NEET PG. The candidate must have completed their MBBS degree from a recognized organization and met the eligibility criteria set by the National Medical Commission.

Admission documents usually are:

  • NEET UG/PG score card
  • 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates
  • MBBS degree certificate and marks sheets (for PG courses)
  • Valid ID proof
  • Domicile certificate (if required)
  • Category certificate (if required)
  • Recent passport-size photographs
